About the Midlands branch
Branch Chair
The branch is chaired by Dr Salil Karkhanis, a Consultant Interventional Radiologist based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
After graduating from the Armed Forces Medical College in India, Dr Karkhanis finished his basic surgical training in West Midlands and then commenced training in Radiology in the same training scheme. After acquiring a Fellowship in diagnostic radiology, he trained as an intervention radiologist for four years, joining the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2016. His special interests are in hepatobiliary and neuroendocrine disease. He has a personal interest in teaching, and has been a faculty on many courses related to diagnostic radiology and intervention radiology.

The region covers West Midlands, Warwickshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. When you join the BIR you will automatically be allocated to your nearest region.
