Trustee vacancies

The BIR’s Council have four trustee vacancies for the session starting 1 October 2025. Terms of service on Council are 3 years:

  • Honorary Treasurer - see details below on how to apply (differs from the 3 other vacancies)
  • Vice President for Publishing
  • Vice President for External Affairs
  • Ordinary Trustee

Trustees provide strategic guidance and leadership, and ensure good governance of all BIR activities. This is achieved through participation in Council meetings (four per year) with additional regular contact with fellow trustees and participation in other areas of BIR activity. Trustee roles are voluntary and therefore unremunerated.

Nominations must be from two members of the BIR, with the consent of the person being nominated, and should include a short resume of up to 500 words on the relevant experience of the nominee. Please send the nomination form to lucy.stewart@bir.org.uk by 30 June 2025.  

Honorary Treasurer role 

The British Institute of Radiology (BIR) is seeking an Honorary Treasurer to join its Board of Trustees for a three-year term starting in October 2025.

This prestigious voluntary role is ideal for a finance professional with experience in managing finance departments, including financial and management reporting, and contributing to strategic decision-making.

As Chair of the Finance & Investment Committee and a Trustee, you will play a key role in guiding the BIR’s vision and strategic direction. This is a governance and oversight role, where you’ll help shape major decisions and ensure the organisation’s financial health by identifying and managing key risks.
