Referring your patient for imaging: For GPs and medical doctors

 Referring Your Patient

This course is essential for all medical referrers, including primary (GPs) and secondary care referrers, dentists and others.

This course provides 1 CPD credit in accordance with the CPD Scheme of The Royal College of Radiologists.

Medical imaging such as X-ray and CT use ionising radiation, and so it is crucial that all referrers who refer patients for imaging understand the risks of radiation and what information is needed in a referral to enable the radiology department to process the referral and justify or authorise the exposure to radiation.

The course will enable all medical referrers to fulfil their responsibilities safely, effectively, and in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This course provides an essential resource to provide important guidance to accompany their on-the-job training to ensure compliance with Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R) and patient safety.
