Distinguished Service Medal Winners
The Distinguished Service Medal is in the gift of the President and is awarded to an individual who has made a special contribution to the British Institute of Radiology.
Awarded in 2024
The prestigious Distinguished Service Medal was awarded to Dr Simon Jackson by outgoing President Professor Stephen Keevil at the inauguration of Dr Nick Screaton in September. 
Simon recently retired as Vice President for Education. Simon is also the current Editor-in-Chief (Medical) of BJR, a position he has held for eight years and has served as both an Associate and Senior Editor during the 14 years he has served on BJR’s Editorial Board.
Simon said "For me, it has been an absolute privilege to be actively involved with the BIR over many years and I am immensely honoured to receive this medal.I thank the BIR to have been given the opportunity to help develop our educational and publishing content which reflects our vision and commitment to enhance multi professional excellence.”
