AXREM are also pleased to announce that Nicola Fishwick, Business Development & Omnichannel Wave Leader Ultrasound at GE Healthcare has been appointed at the new Convenor of the AXREM Ultrasound Special Focus Group. Nicola will also represent the group on the AXREM Executive Committee to ensure that Ultrasound is considered within the strategic priorities and direction of the association.
The Ultrasound special focus group is one of the smaller groups in AXREM but also one of the most proactive, having worked on a number of projects over recent years including a used equipment checklist, and guidance around the decontamination of transducers, giving Nicola a great basis to build upon and continue to lead the work done by the group. The group have also collaborated extensively with the British Medical Ultrasound Society, The Society and College of Radiographers and the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine, and this has been key to the work.
The perfect combination of individual patient care carefully wrapped in cutting-edge technology drove Nicola Fishwick to pursue a career in Diagnostic Radiography. This quickly rolled into Diagnostic Ultrasound when a rare training post became available at Whiston Hospital. A passion for technology and driving technology adoption guided Nicola into the commercial environment initially as a Clinical Application Specialist.
The hand-eye-brain coordination needed for ultrasound together with the ever-expanding addressable clinical care areas and rapidly evolving technological capabilities has always been Nicola’s area of interest. Having held various roles at major manufacturers during her now 17-year commercial career, Nicola is delighted to be appointed the Convenor for the AXREM Ultrasound Special Focus Group.
Nicola is looking forward to convening the group which has recently been refreshed with new memberships and representatives. Nicola commented “Working together with AXREM on behalf of the whole industry is my absolute privilege and I am excited for this next chapter and driving new workstreams for 2025”.
The Vice Convenor role will be continued to be fulfilled by Tim Palarm, Regional Manager South at Canon Medical Systems.
Sally Edgington, AXREM Chief Executive Officer said“I am really pleased to welcome Nicola to this role and look forward to working with her to see how we can further develop the work of this group, the collaborations and partnerships”.
The announcement comes after the incumbent Convenor Roy Tappin, General Manager at GE Healthcare has completed two terms and over 4 years as the Convenor. Roy will continue to be an active member of the AXREM Executive Committee.
Roy Tappin said upon Nicola Fishwick being appointed “It has been a privilege to be the convenor of the Ultrasound SFG over the past 4 years. I am proud of what we have achieved as a group and I will continue to stay close to the work that the team does moving forward. Nicola is a great choice and I know she will be ably supported by Tim and the rest of the team to deliver vendor neutral change for all those who work in or are touch by the wonderful world of diagnostic Ultrasound.
Wishing you all the very best for the future”
