Dr Elly Castellano is BIR Vice President for Publications.
Elly is a consultant medical physicist. She was educated at the universities of Oxford, Surrey and London, and trained at St Mary’s Hospital and The Royal Marsden in London. She is currently head of the diagnostic radiology physics group at The Royal Marsden. Her main research interests are in CT dosimetry and CT optimisation. She runs the advanced x-ray and CT imaging module of the MSc Clinical Sciences (Medical Physics) at King’s College, London, and lectures extensively in the UK and abroad. She is a contributing author to several text books and handbooks on CT and patient radiation dosimetry. She has been a member of the BIR since 1991. She was associate editor of the British Journal of Radiology in 2010-2015. She has enthusiastically supported the BIR’s educational and scientific programmes as a speaker for over ten years.
