Dr David Wilson inaugurated as President 2014-16

David Wilson inaug 1On 23 September 2014, Dr David Wilson was inaugurated as the new President of the BIR, at the Malmaison Hotel, Charterhouse Square, London.

At a reception attended by around 100 members and supporters as well as representatives from other professional bodies, Professor Andrew Jones handed over the chain of office to Dr Wilson.

In a moving speech, Professor Jones spoke of the achievements of the past two years which included a new governance structure, a rebrand of BJR, and the introduction of special interest groups as well as a new website and office move. Professor Jones was presented with a photobook of his term of office and a gift from trustees and staff.

 

David Wilson inaug 2Dr Wilson said, “It is an honour and a privilege to accept this role as President. I am very excited at the prospect of leading the BIR through another wave of innovation and development. I am particularly looking forward to seeing the development of webinars, and the introduction of a new journal, BIR diplomas and an accreditation scheme”.

 

JAFJacqueline Fowler, CEO of the BIR, thanked Professor Jones for his inspiring leadership and dedication over the last two years. “We are so fortunate at the BIR to have the support of really knowledgeable and committed individuals on our council and I am thrilled that Dr David Wilson will be leading us through the next stage of growth for the BIR.”

Dr Wilson’s primary interest is in the application of modern imaging techniques to disorders of the locomotors system. He has undertaken original work in the application of diagnostic ultrasound to joint, muscle and soft tissue disease with particular attention to joint effusion and congenital dysplasia of the hip.
