UKIO, the UK's largest imaging and oncology event, returned this year with an impressive attendance of over 3,000 delegates. The BIR team were proud to be present in the partner pavilion, where we took the opportunity to connect with members, colleagues and healthcare professionals in a relaxed and open setting. In keeping with this year's theme — Putting Humanity at the Centre of Healthcare — our focus was on listening: hearing first-hand how we can better support and collaborate with our community in an increasingly technology-driven landscape.
A few of many highlights from the event for us:
On day one we hosted the launch of the Collaborative Ultrasound Manifesto with our partners AXREM, the British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS), the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM), and the Society of Radiographers (SoR) to reduce patient waiting times for diagnosis and treatment.

We spoke to some of our Corporate Members, it was great to speak with Rothband who are sponsoring our Radiation Safety Best Practice Award. Here from their Managing Director Paul Dixon here. Thank you for your support with this award.
Claire Angus our CEO did a short about the BIR on the stand and what we do and our history.

We were delighted to showcase the work of our Artist in Residence, Hugh Turvey, whose striking images drew real admiration at the event. Take a look at some of his work here — the response from visitors was wonderful, and we're grateful to Hugh for bringing such creativity and energy to our stand.
Thanks to everyone who came to visit us at our stand and for everyone who provided education on the stand. It’s never to early to be thinking about 2027, so if you are a member who is attending next year and would like to speak on the stand please contact conference@bir.org.uk.
