Siemens Healthineers are partnering with the BIR to provide a pump-priming research bursary, the BIR/Siemens Healthineers Research Award, to give support to researchers in the fields of radiology, radiotherapy, oncology, radiography or medical physics.
The BIR/Siemens Healthineers Research Award will provide £1,000 for initial financial support to enable researchers to develop proposals with the aim of attracting further funding from external sources.
The award is in memory of Sir James Mackenzie Davidson, a pioneer in British radiology.
Dr Jane Phillips-Hughes, President of the BIR said. “This bursary provides a starting point to build the case for further funding. We are pleased to enable researchers to get their projects off the ground through this bursary, kindly provided by Siemens Healthineers.”
Dr Andrew Nanapragasam, from King’s College Hospital, London, won the award last year for a project to develop a clinically applicable means of identifying muscle fibres affected by motor neurone disease (MND). He was presented with his award at the BIR Annual Congress 2019.
To apply, participants must complete an application form, providing a 750 word outline of the intended research project and send to awards@bir.org.uk by 30 April 2020.
