Jane Phillips-Hughes

Dr Jane Phillips-Hughes was President for the period 2018-20 and is a fellow of the Institute. She has played a significant role in the BIR for many years, starting as Associate Editor of BJR in 2004 and becoming Honorary Editor (Medical) of the BJR from September 2010 to September 2013. She then took on the role of Vice President for Publications from September 2013-2016.

Jane has been a Consultant Radiologist in Oxford since 1995. She graduated from the University Of Wales College of Medicine in 1986 and undertook her radiology training in Cardiff between 1989 and 1995. Specialising in interventional radiology, her main areas of interest are in gastro-intestinal and hepato-biliary radiology, ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound. She also has an interest in education and training, as Training Programme Director and then Head of School for the Oxford Regional Training Programme.  She joined the Editorial Board of the BJR as an Associate Editor in 2004 and was Honorary Editor (Medical) of the BJR from September 2010 to September 2013. She then took on the role of Vice President for Publications from September 2013-2016.

Jane continues to play a proactive role in the BIR and became Chair of the Awards & Prizes Committee in 2021.
