Professor Stephen Keevil was President from 2022-2024 and is a Fellow of the Institute. Stephen was Vice President for External Affairs from 2020-22 before becoming President. His lasting legacy to the BIR is the Coat of Arms, granted during his presidency.
Stephen is Head of Medical Physics at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, heading a team of almost 200 staff who provide a comprehensive range of medical physics and clinical engineering services. He is also Professor of Medical Physics at King’s College London. Among other previous professional activities, he has served as President of UKRC (2012-13), President of IPEM (2013-15) and a member of the administrative council of the International Union for Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine (IUPESM).
