The Revd Canon Dr Mike Kirby is a Senior Lecturer (Radiotherapy Physics) at Liverpool University and Honorary Lecturer (Cancer Sciences) at Manchester university. He has served on IPEM, BIR and multidisciplinary committees and co-authored/edited IPEM Reports 92, 93, 94 and the RCR’s ‘On Target’ and ‘On Target 2’ publications. An active member and previous chair of the BIR’s Oncology and Radiotherapy SIG, Mike is also a member of IPEM, AAPM, ASTRO, ESTRO and fellow of the BIR. His research interests focus on radiotherapy imaging, networking, service delivery and education. Most recently he’s co-authored a textbook for RT students/trainees on On-Treatment Verification Imaging/IGRT for CRC Press. A second book, Clinical Insights for IGRT: Prostate, is due out July 2024. Mike is also a priest in the Church of England, having studied at Cambridge and Cumbria Universities and served at Blackburn, Chester and Liverpool (Anglican) Cathedrals, being presently Canon Scientist at the latter.
