We are delighted to announce that Toshiba is the new sponsor of the Mayneord Memorial Lecture for the next three years. We are inviting nominations for this prestigious eponymous lecture and award.
The Mayneord Memorial Lecture is an annual award made to an individual or group of collaborators in recognition of recent or current contributions in the wide and expanding field of radiology. Anyone interested in nominating a candidate for this is required to send their citation (500 words maximum) about their chosen nominee to lucy.stewart@bir.org.uk by 30 June 2013. The nominations will be judged by the BIR council of trustees.
The lecture was founded in 1984 in memory of Professor William Valentine Mayneord, CBE, FRS, past president and honorary member of the BIR. The lecture is given at the annual UKRC congress.
Mark Hitchman, Managing Director, Toshiba Medical Systems: ' Toshiba are delighted to partner with the BIR to fund this award which recognises and values skills and contributions at the forefront of science, this is very much in line with our commitment to education.'
BIR President Professor Andrew Jones said “The BIR is honoured to have the support of one of our loyal corporate subscribers to fund this highly esteemed award, which is recognised and valued throughout the industry.”
Previous recipients include Professor Richard Ehman (2012), Professor Sir Mike Richards (2011) and Lord Darzi (2010).
Toshiba will present an honorarium of £250 and a plaque to the recipient after the lecture is delivered. The travel and hotel expenses to attend the conference are also covered.
