Dr Alejandro Rolon is taking no chances with his star-studded world cup team in Brazil. A complete medical imaging department has been created at Argentina’s training base that includes a dedicated MRI system at the training centre itself, and extends to ultrasound scanning of injuries ‘on-pitch’ if required.
Preparation is everything in top-class sport. The pressure to succeed is not only on the players andDr Rolon manager but also on the medical teams.

Fast diagnosis is fundamental to treat and rehabilitate star players such as Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero – getting them back playing as quickly as possible.

Esaote, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of medical diagnostic systems, has helped Dr Rolon establish the facility.

Dr Rolon said “This is definitely the trend in elite sport and the future of sports medicine. Being able to instantly and correctly identify and classify the lesion will speed up the athletes’ recovery time. The best opportunity for intervention, treatment and rehabilitation is right after the injury.”
