BIR supports the IPEM Little Linac campaign

IPEM/BIR Linac

We are delighted to be supporting the IPEM Little Linac campaign which aims to reduce anxiety for children with cancer by providing every child undergoing radiotherapy treatment for cancer with a free kit of play bricks to make a model linear accelerator (or linac) the machine used to give the treatment.

IPEM has given 100 kits to each of the 16 paediatric radiotherapy centres across the UK to give to children undergoing radiotherapy treatment. The remainder will be sold to generate funds to purchase the next 3,000 kits, so that the project will become self-sustaining. Every Little Linac model that is sold will enable IPEM to donate two more kits to children undergoing radiotherapy treatment for cancer.

The initiative was the brain-child of IPEM past President David Brettle and BIR past President Andy Rogers gave his whole hearted support to the project.
