Professor Stephen Keevil is new BIR President

Professor Stephen Keevil will be the new President of the BIR from 1 October 2022 when Dr Sri Redla steps down after two years in office.

Stephen has been a loyal supporter and member of the BIR for many years, serving on Council as Vice President External Affairs, on the BIR MRI Committee and the BIR MR Safety Working Party. He also served as President of UKRC from 2012-2013.

He said “I am thrilled and honoured to be the new President of the BIR. There have been some fantastic accomplishments to celebrate over the last few years and I look forward to more milestones as the BIR embarks on a new 5-year strategy”.

Dr Sri Redla said “I have thoroughly enjoyed my term of office and am immensely proud of the BIR and of what it has achieved in the last two years. I look forward to continue working with the BIR in my role as Past President.”

The inauguration of the new President will take place on Tuesday 8 November 2022.

Stephen is Head of Medical Physics at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, heading a team of almost 200 staff who provide a comprehensive range of medical physics and clinical engineering services. He is also Professor of Medical Physics at King’s College London. Among other previous professional activities, he has served as President of UKRC (2012-13), President of IPEM (2013-15) and a member of the administrative council of the International Union for Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine (IUPESM).
