Statement from BIR following recent concerning events

We at BIR are saddened by the tragic events in Southport on 29 July and the subsequent actions that have followed. As an organisation dedicated to fostering a community built on mutual respect, inclusivity, and equality, we are deeply concerned by the violence, incitement, and misinformation that have emerged.

These actions are entirely contrary to the values that we hold dear. We condemn any behaviour that undermines the safety and dignity of individuals in our community and beyond. Our thoughts are with all those affected, both personally and professionally.

The BIR remains committed to promoting a culture of empathy, understanding, and respect within the radiology field and across the broader healthcare landscape. We will continue to support efforts to ensure that all professionals can work in an environment that honours and respects diversity.
