BJR, the flagship research journal of the British Institute of Radiology, has a new Editor-in-Chief (Medical).
We are delighted to announce Professor Stuart Taylor as the new Editor-in-Chief (Medical) of BJR from 1 January 2025. Stuart is Professor of Medical Imaging at the Centre for Medical Imaging, University College London in the UK. He is also an NIHR Senior Investigator and Chair of the National NIHR Imaging Group. Stuart’s research is focussed on developing and translating imaging technologies, particularly for CT colonography, inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn’s disease and colorectal diagnosis and staging.
Professor Stuart Taylor said “Medical publishing is rapidly evolving with new challenges but many opportunities.BJRis the oldest radiological journal in the world and I am very much looking forward to carrying on the excellent work of my predecessor, Dr Simon Jackson, in keeping the journal at the cutting edge of imaging science”.
It is with sadness and sincere gratitude that we also say farewell to outgoing Editor-in-Chief (Medical), Dr Simon Jackson, who held the role for the past eight years and served on the Editorial Board for over 14 years. Simon has been a brilliant leader of the journal and we extend our thanks and huge appreciation for his expert guidance and supportive leadership over the years. We wish Simon well for all his future endeavours.
Dr Simon Jackson said “It has been an honour serving as BJR Editor in Chief (Medical) during the past eight years. I offer my heartfelt thanks to the BJR Editorial Board and Editorial Office team for helping to steer the journal on an upward trajectory. I also deeply appreciate the hard work of our editors, reviewers, and authors in ensuring the continued success of the journal. Last, but by no means least, I offer my full support as Professors Stuart Taylor and Andy Nisbet commence an exciting next chapter of BJR.”
Stuart will work alongside Professor Andrew Nisbet, who continues in his role as Editor-in-Chief (Scientific). We are excited to be working with Stuart and Andrew in this capacity and know BJR will remain in the safest hands with both of them leading the Editorial Board and guiding the strategic direction of the journal.
