Latest SIG news – July 2020
What an extraordinary year of challenge and innovation this has been so far. The BIR has risen to the challenge and adapted its ways of working and the Leadership & Management SIG meeting on 19 June fully reflected this! The group met via Video conference and almost everyone ‘attended’ and contributed enthusiastically. The SIG also welcomed four new members – Dr Ronny Sandhu, Subhashis Ghosh, Simon McGuire and Charlie McCaffrey.
The BIR adapted its education programme quickly and many events will now be in a virtual format. In addition, a brilliant webinar series on COVID-19 was produced. These have all been free of charge and are available to view in our Online Learning Library. We also have a dedicated COVID-19 resources page on our website.
The BIR Annual Congress has also been adapted and will be a virtual event for the first time, taking place over three days 4 – 6 November 2020. The opening plenary lecture, entitled ‘Leadership during crisis’ will be given by Dr Clare Gerada, Medical Director, Practitioner Health Programme.
Once again, this SIG will contribute to the exciting programme which will cover:
- Leadership and wellbeing – led by Dr Elizabeth Loney and Dr T C See
- Artificial intelligence
- Patient protection
Attendance is free for BIR members, so don’t miss out!
The SIG hope that their annual Leadership Event will go ahead face-to-face in January 2021. However, if this is not possible the event will be adapted to an online format.
Watch out for more details.
